What happened tonight is the exact reason why discipline and stricter rules and guidelines have become such a necessity this year. As if attempting to break into a professor's office wasn't bad enough, it's down right vicious what Seamus did to Tracey. If you're going to violate school policy so blatantly and recklessly, you should be prepared to accept the consequences for your actions if you're caught, not attack another student who was simply trying to stop you from doing what you shouldn't have been doing anyway.

WARDED PRIVATEWell, at least I had a nice birthday. My class load was light that day and my packages from home appeared untouched, one of the benefits of being part of the IS, no doubt. Still, I wasn't very excited about it. Eighteen doesn't feel much different than seventeen. Maybe it would have been better if things weren't so strained with pretty much everyone in Hufflepuff, but then again, probably the year as a whole would be worse if I wasn't in the IS.
I guess I've been feeling a bit pessimistic about the Carrows since Friday. I try to tell myself that they're not really so bad and they're doing the best they can...but even I can't rationalize that lesson. At least I didn't have to curse Minks, but I didn't feel much better using it against someone else's pet. I don't like that they teach us these curses, but it's not my place to speak out.
Still, I keep trying to forget but I can't seem to get it off my mind.
It's so nice to get away from the castle for a while. Even though it was freezing in Hogsmeade, it was still a lovely time.

WARDED TO SUSANI feel sort of guilty taking over the prefect's lounge. I mean, how long do you think that's been a prefect privilege in the school? Maybe hundreds of years? Seems sort of wrong to break such a long standing school tradition. I guess it's the Carrows' way of punishing disobedient prefects, but I like to think that's really the minority of them.
It doesn't really make much sense not to use it though, and it is a rather brilliant set up. How do you feel about it?
